The Street Art Superstar
He’s world-famous but still a mystery – Banksy, the Bristol-born and to this day anonymous graffiti artist and painter, known for challenging the boundaries of the art market, who has been causing a sensation with his work for many years. In March, “The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind” celebrated its world premiere in Munich, now a special setting of the exhibition has been created especially for Heidelberg!
To accomplish an exhibition about the most famous street style artist of our time is not an easy task. Oliver Forster (COFO Entertainment, Passau), producer of musicals and creator of exhibitions teamed up with Livemacher GmbH from Besigheim, represented by Edgar Braune and Oliver Diaz. “We want to show art as an experience, accessible for everyone and brought together in one place. Banksy is primarily a street artist who is known for graffiti he has sprayed around the world. In addition, he already started in early years to sell original signed artwork and prints in limited editions. Most of them are privately owned and are therefore not accessible to the public. Being able to admire an original Banksy is an absolute rarity.
With “The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind” we now try to give our visitors the chance to experience art with reproductions of the best and most impressive motifs in just one place and in a relaxed atmosphere outside the museums, but still with high quality”, says producer Oliver Forster. The exhibition shows an unprecedented presentation with more than 100 works by the acclaimed street art superstar. Graffiti, photographs, sculptures, video installations and prints on various materials such as canvas, fabric, aluminum, forex and plexiglass, exclusively reproduced and collected for this special show. Additionally the exhibition offers an exciting video documentation that highlights the most important stations of a matchless career.
“The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind” gives the visitor a comprehensive overview and insight into the complete works of the genius and exceptional artist in an elaborate and unique setting. According to Banksy’s principle “Copyright is for losers © TM”, this homage is not officially authorised due to his anonymous status.
